Note: | Thomas was born in 1819. He was the son of Thomas Seon and Julia Goodwin Stowe. Thomas was a Master Mariner. At the age of 36 he married 28 year old widow Sophia Murrell on 21 October 1856 at the parish church in the parish of Saint Mary Le Strand, Westminster, London, by licence[1]. Thomas was a Master Mariner of St Mary Le Strand. They would go on to have a family of 10 children (some born before they were married). England and Wales Census, 1861: Living with his wife Sophia (31) and their three children Thomas (9), Henry (3) and Laura (1) at 7 Canton Street, Poplar, London & Middlesex, England. He was aged 40. Also in the household was 14 year old domestic servant Mary Ellis. Occupation: Ship Captain MS He and his wife Sophia, along with their two young children Henry and Laura, emigrated from England to New Zealand on the ship Black Eagle, under Captain William Smith. They sailed from Plymouth on 17 August 1861 and arrived into Auckland on 19 November 1861[2]. They settled at the Hokianga Harbour in Northland where Thomas as Harbourmaster.
